Batala: A land dispute turned deadly in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district when a 35-year-old man shot dead his aunt, her 12-year-old son and an ex-serviceman friend before killing himself, police said on Wednesday.Batala SSP Mehtab Singh said Manjot Singh, the accused, was locked in a property and financial dispute with his uncle. He had sold his share of family land and had been pressuring his uncle for money. Following a heated argument, Manjot opened fire, killing his aunt, Hardeep Kaur (45), and her 12-year-old son, Haramrit, police said. His uncle was away at the time. On their way back, when Pargat objected to the double murder, Manjot shot him dead as well, police said. Pargat’s body was recovered in an open area near Manjot’s house. Manjot then turned the weapon on himself; police later recovered his body inside his kitchen, still clutching the pistol.
