Panaji: All officer-rank personnel of Goa police’s traffic cell involved in enforcement duties are now equipped with body-worn cameras after 100 additional devices were distributed to 18 traffic cells across the state on Tuesday. The cameras are intended to record interactions and reduce public-police confrontations during enforcement.SP traffic Prabodh Shirvoikar said all police personnel from the rank of assistant sub-inspector to inspector engaged in traffic enforcement have been provided body-worn cameras.The traffic cell has also procured 40 torches for use during nakabandis and while responding to calls, along with 18 canopies to provide shade for personnel during enforcement duties.In addition, 25 megaphones have been purchased for traffic-awareness drives and making announcements during traffic-related disruptions.
