Jaipur: Tourism department is working on a fresh set of policy initiatives to attract investment in underexplored segments and spread tourism-led economic activity to more regions and communities across the state, tourism secretary Suchi Tyagi said at the inauguration of the three-day Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart ThursdayShe said the policy push is required as travel preferences are changing, with visitors increasingly looking for authentic experiences, lesser-known destinations, local food and culture, and more sustainable and responsible tourism.The govt is also looking to diversify Rajasthan’s international tourist base by exploring new source markets while retaining traditional markets such as the US, UK and France.“The larger objective is not simply to increase the number of tourists or attract investment. We want to build an enabling tourism ecosystem that creates jobs, strengthens local businesses and ensures the benefits of tourism reach every corner of the state,” Tyagi said.The state is also seeking greater local participation, longer tourist stays and stronger linkages between tourism and local businesses.
