Third accused in Uttam Nagar double murder case held in Rajasthan after four months

New Delhi: Over four months after an alleged double murder by stabbing in southwest Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, police have arrested the third and last remaining accused. Akash, 24, worked as a delivery executive, was nabbed from Rajasthan’s Beawar.The deceased, Nizamuddin and Mohammad Sameer, as well as the accused, Nikhil, Sumit and Akash, were all residents of the same locality.The incident took place in Kali Basti, where the trio allegedly attacked Nizamuddin and Sameer on Dec 21 last year. Nizamuddin was declared dead at the spot, while Sameer succumbed to injuries during treatment.“Akash had been on the run since the incident and was later declared a proclaimed offender by a Dwarka court,” said DCP (Dwarka) Kushal Pal Singh. Sumit and Nikhil were arrested earlier.A police officer said, “There was an old monetary dispute between the two groups that escalated over time”.A special staff team of the Dwarka district received a tip-off about Akash’s presence in Beawar. The officer added that he would occasionally attempt to contact his associates in Delhi, which alerted the cops to his phone activity.Akash allegedly confessed to his involvement in the incident. He had been living in Beawar with a friend and frequently changed phone numbers to evade arrest. He was previously involved in a case under the Delhi Excise Act.
