Thieves steal 5kg ornaments from jewellery shop
Thieves cut the roof to enter the shop

Surat: Thieves targeted a Pandesara jewellery shop, stealing 5kg silver ornaments worth Rs 7.42 lakh and Rs 20,000 cash. They cut the roof and ceiling under it to enter the shop and left with the valuables. Thieves targeted the shop for the second time having failed to steal items during an attempt eight months back.Complainant Manoj Soni shut his shop at 9PM on Saturday and left for home. Soni received a call from a homeowner who lives behind his shop on Sunday morning, informing him about the roof of his shop being cut. The shop owner rushed to his shop and opened the shutter to find many valuables and cash missing.A check revealed that 5kg silver ornaments, including idols of god, silver vessels, bracelets, bangles, mangalsutra, chain, necklace, earrings, pendant, coins had been stolen from the showcase. Soni also found that Rs 20,000 cash kept in the counter was stolen. In order to avoid identification, the thieves further stole the DVR.Soni called the police and filed a complaint against the unknown thieves. Pandesara police inspector KD Jadeja told TOI, “Thieves entered from the staircases of a nearby home. They had come with equipment to cut the roof and ceiling. We have identified two suspicious people through CCTVs of nearby establishments and are hopeful that they would be nabbed soon.”
