TNNLudhiana: Burglars struck at a house in Vishwakarma Colony here and decamped with jewellery, cash and foreign currency while the house occupant was asleep. The police have registered a case in the matter.The theft came to light when the homeowner, Sukhwinder Kaur, woke up the next morning and found the house ransacked.In her complaint, Sukhwinder Kaur told the police that she lived alone and alleged that some unidentified person broke into her house on the intervening night of July 21 and 22 and stole valuables.As per the complainant, when she woke up in the morning, she found her belongings scattered across the house. She added that the stolen items included two gold chains, four pairs of gold earrings, a gold ring, four gold lockets, a pair of gold bangles, around Rs 1.25 lakh in cash, and foreign currency comprising 1,000 dollars and pounds.On being informed, police personnel from Division No. 6 reached the spot and carried out a preliminary investigation.The cops suggested that a forensic examination of the scene was also initiated, while CCTV cameras installed in and around the locality were being scanned to identify the accused and trace their movement.Investigating officer ASI Raj Pal Singh said a case was registered against unidentified persons and further investigation was underway.He added that the police were examining all available leads and expressed confidence that the accused would be identified and arrested soon.
