Hyderabad: After recording highest temperature of the season on Thursday at 44.4 degrees, Telangana is likely to witness some respite as thunderstorms are expected over the coming days. Beginning April 19, storm activity will initially adjoining districts of Hyderabad, before gradually extending to most parts of the state between April 21 and 25. Hyderabad is also expected to experience thunderstorms during this period, bringing temporary relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at isolated places across Telangana. The department has also warned of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds in several districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy.Despite the expected rainfall, daytime temperatures continue to remain high on Thursday. Jagtial recorded the highest maximum temperature at 44.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem, Mancherial, Nalgonda, Nirmal and Nizamabad, each registering around 44.3 degrees Celsius. Kamareddy, Karimnagar and Siddipet were close behind at 44.1 degrees Celsius. Several other districts also reported temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius, indicating persistent and widespread heatwave conditions across the state.
