Hyderabad: Telangana high court has sought the govt’s response to a petition challenging the inaction of authorities in uploading the list of properties which have been placed in the prohibited category under Section 22-A of the Registration Act on the registration department’s official webiste. The petitioners alleged that due to the authorities’ inaction, the general public was being deprived of authentic information on properties included in the prohibited list.Justice NV Shravan Kumar, while hearing the matter, observed, “When some agricultural lands are under the prohibited list, even if it is a nala conversion land, the details should be uploaded in the public domain,” and adjourned the matter to Aug 20 for further hearing. According to the petitioner Amera Pasha, a city-based advocate, properties included in the prohibited list are not shown as prohibited on the official website, thereby misleading citizens and potentially resulting in them purchasing properties that are under the prohibited category.Petitioner’s counsel Vijay Gopal contended that the petitioner had tried several times to access the registration department’s website to check the details of properties placed under the prohibited category. “But every time, the website says the prohibited category list is under review and will be published soon,” Vijay Gopal added. He further submitted that while it was the state govt’s decision not to register assigned lands, the information regarding such properties should still be uploaded in the public domain. He also cited a Supreme Court judgment which, he says, held that properties placed in such a category have to be disclosed in the public domain.
