Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has issued contempt notices to HYDRAA commissioner A V Ranganath for allegedly violating court orders to remove a signage (public notice) from a 500-sq yard land parcel at Suraram. The high court had on April 13 directed HYDRAA to remove the boards within 48 hours from the order date. However, alleging that the boards had not yet been removed from the site, the petitioner moved a contempt petition before the court.Hearing the contempt petition, Justice NV Shravan Kumar noted that perusal of the photographic evidence in the contempt case clicked on April 27 showed that the public notice still existed on the land.“HYDRAA commissioner is continuously violating the court orders and in view of the same, issue contempt notice,” the judge said on May 6, and adjourned the matter to be posted with the main petition on June 9.Counsel for the petitioner, Vidya Sagar Rao, argued that a representation as well as a contempt notice was issued to HYDRAA on April 23, but it was not considered till date, and that the agency was intentionally not implementing the orders issued in April.Earlier, while hearing the writ petition in April, the judge asked if HYDRAA was “thinking itself (to be) above the courts” or “running a parallel govt by unilaterally taking possession of land parcels that are sub judice.
