Telangana eyeing 20,000 MW solar power capacity by 2030, 26,000 MW by 2035: Bhatti

Hyderabad: Telangana is targeting a solar power capacity of 20,000 MW by 2030 and over 26,000 MW by 2035 to transform the state into a clean energy manufacturing hub and position it as a preferred destination for global investors, Telangana deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said here on Tuesday.Telangana govt is also working on ensuring integration of renewable energy by creating battery energy storage and pumped storage capacities of 3,800 MW by 2030 and 8,000 MW by 2035, Bhatti Vikramarka said while inaugurating the two-day India Energy Summit & Expo 2026 here.Pointing out that energy transformation will be possible only through strong govt-private partnerships, he invited investors, innovators, scientists and chief executives to partner with the state.Wooing investors, he said solar, wind and battery component manufacturers will receive capital support and incentives like SGST reimbursement and electricity duty exemptions along with fast-track approvals through TG-iPASS.“Telangana promotes every kind of investment and is truly a paradise for investors. We are ready to share our growth and prosperity and welcome you to grow with us,” Bhatti said.The deputy CM said energy transition was not merely a shift in power generation sources but a broader transformation of the economy. Telangana, he said, aimed to become not just a clean energy consumer but a global manufacturing centre for clean energy technologies.He said Hyderabad’s strengths in information technology and artificial intelligence would be used to build a digital power grid. The deputy CM also said a 100 MW renewable energy plant is planned for an AI data centre in the proposed Bharat Future City.Telangana also aims to produce 400,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030 and establish 12,000 EV charging stations by 2035.
