Gorakhpur: A 16-year-old boy allegedly hacked his elder brother, sister-in-law and their three-year-old son to death while they were asleep in a village in Gorakhpur early Monday.The incident took place around 3 am in Balua village under Bansgaon police station limits, nearly 50 km from the district headquarters. According to police, the victims were sleeping in the same room when the teenager allegedly attacked them with a sharp-edged weapon. The accused’s parents were in another room at the time of the incident.Police said the father heard screams and rushed to the room, where he found the trio lying in a pool of blood. He reportedly saw his younger son emerging from the room with the weapon. Shocked, he informed neighbours and alerted the police.Senior police officers, including the SSP and SP, reached the spot and launched an investigation. The juvenile was found sitting in a room with the blood-stained weapon and taken into custody.Based on a complaint filed by victim’s father, an FIR was registered against the accused. SP (South) Dinesh Puri said the bodies have been sent for postmortem and the accused is being questioned.Police said the motive behind the killings is yet to be established. However, preliminary inquiries suggest that a dispute related to afamily-run shop may have triggered the attack.The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, leaving residents stunned and creating an atmosphere of grief and fear in the area.
