Amritsar: The rescue of two workers from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project, nine days after devastating floods struck Nepal, has rekindled hope for families still searching for missing relatives. Among them is a family from Tarn Taran district, whose member, Shamsher Singh, employed at the Trishuli 1 Hydropower Project, remains untraceable along with his two relatives from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh.The family has refused to give up hope of finding the three alive.The discovery of two survivors on Sept 4 has strengthened their belief that those still missing may also have survived, possibly trapped in inaccessible areas and awaiting rescue.Family members had earlier travelled to Nepal in search of the trio but returned without any information about their whereabouts or condition.Shamsher’s uncle, Kulwant Singh, a resident of Ratoke village near Chohla Sahib in Tarn Taran, has now joined relatives in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, who have planned another visit to Nepal to continue the search.Kulwant said the family’s last contact with Shamsher was on Aug 25, when he spoke to his children and other relatives over WhatsApp. Since then, all attempts to reach him have failed, with his phone remaining switched off or out of reach. There has similarly been no communication from Bhupinder Singh or Rachpal Singh.At the Trishuli 1 Hydropower Project, Shamsher was engaged in hydro operations, Bhupinder worked as a crane operator, and Rachpal was employed as a truck operator.“We are leaving for Kathmandu tomorrow in our vehicle. We will seek assistance from local rescue teams and visit hospitals, shelters and even mortuaries in an effort to trace the three men,” Kulwant said. “How can a family lose hope? We are determined to find them,” he added.Kulwant said he had also been in touch with senior officials of the company employing the three workers. “The company has been supportive and assured us that efforts to trace them are continuing. They will keep us informed of any developments,” he said.The family has already appealed to the Tarn Taran administration to take up the matter with the Centre and seek assistance in tracing the three missing men.
