T BJP chief seeks wider SIT probe into Dharani, Bhu Bharati portals

Hyderabad: BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress govt of using the Kaleshwaram project to divert attention from alleged irregularities in land administration. He demanded that the special investigation team (SIT) probing the Dharani portal also investigate alleged irregularities in the Bhu Bharati portal.Addressing a news conference at the BJP state office, Ramchander Rao alleged that fake accounts had surfaced not only in Dharani during the previous BRS govt but also in Bhu Bharati after the Congress came to power. He demanded a comprehensive probe into both portals and action against the political leaders and officials found responsible. He alleged that the Congress and the BRS were trying to divert public attention from alleged land-related irregularities by repeatedly raising issues concerning the Kaleshwaram project. The BJP was the first party to seek an inquiry by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) into the project, he said, adding that the state govt should now focus on repairing the project and making it functional to provide irrigation to farmers instead of indulging in politics.Ramchander Rao also claimed that the Centre had played the key role in securing the Tadicherla-II coal block for Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL), rejecting the Congress govt’s claim that it was responsible for the allocation. He said the coal block, with estimated reserves of 182 million tonnes, would generate revenue of more than ₹64,000 crore for SCCL and create around 1,200 jobs. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union coal minister G Kishan Reddy for the allocation. The BJP leader alleged that the previous BRS govt had weakened Singareni through mismanagement, while the Congress govt was diverting the company’s funds to activities unrelated to its core operations. He also accused the Congress of falsely claiming credit for the Tadicherla-II allocation, saying it had been made possible through the efforts of the Centre and BJP leaders.
