Jaipur: The Supreme Court Tuesday paved the way for the long-awaited elections of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) by upholding the Rajasthan High Court‘s order from July 1, which mandated fresh elections within three months under the supervision of a court-appointed administrator.A bench comprising Justice KV Vishwanathan and Justice Alok Aradhe was informed that Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Bhaskar A Sawant, the high court-appointed administrator, already took charge of the RCA’s affairs.Additional Advocate General Shiv Mangal Sharma, who appeared on behalf of Sawant, further clarified that the Special Leave Petition (SLP) concerning the elections was filed by members of the suspended ad hoc committee before the administrator assumed control and therefore should not be considered a petition from the administrator himself.Considering these submissions, the Supreme Court declined to intervene with the high court order, allowing the ad hoc committee’s counsel, advocate Narendra Singh Yadav, to withdraw the SLP. With the withdrawal, the high court’s directives remain effective, ensuring that RCA elections proceed as directed. The high court previously designated Sawant as the administrator to oversee the RCA’s management, and ordered him to prepare and publish an election schedule by July 29, completing the entire electoral process within three months. The elections are to be conducted in compliance with the Rajasthan Sports (Registration, Recognition and Regulation of Associations) Act, 2005, ensuring a free, fair and transparent electoral process.
