Gurgaon: A 31-year-old warehouse supervisor who suffered burn injuries in a fire at a shoe facility in Kherki Daula died during treatment after three days on Friday.Lakshay Chauhan, who worked as a supervisor at the shoe warehouse in Kherki Daula village, was among the two people who sustained burn injuries on April 21 while on duty when a fire broke out at the premises. He was initially taken to a local hospital and later shifted to AIIMS Delhi for treatment.His family members told police that they lost contact with him in the evening and later learned from his colleagues that he had been admitted to the hospital after being injured in the fire. He succumbed to his injuries on Friday during treatment.The victim’s father alleged that inconsistent accounts from employees raised suspicion and claimed there were lapses in fire safety measures at the warehouse. He also alleged negligence in providing timely information and initial medical care.Police said they received information about the fire on April 21 and reached the spot along with fire brigade teams, who brought the blaze under control. Two injured persons, including Shivam and Lakshay, were taken to the hospital for treatment, but Lakshay eventually succumbed to his injuries.“I recorded the statement of Shivam on Thursday as he recovered, but on Friday, I received information from AIIMS Hospital Delhi about the demise of Lakshay. His father lodged a formal complaint. The body was handed to the Delhi police for the postmortem and later handed to the family,” ASI Dinesh said.A fire broke out at the warehouse on April 21, following which multiple fire tenders were used to douse the flames.A case has been registered at Kherki Daula police station under Section 106 (causing death due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway. Police are yet to make any arrest.
