Pune: The city unit of the state anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Wednesday caught a police sub-inspector attached to the Dighi police station while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to file a summary report in a criminal case.The ACB team caught sub-inspector Chaitali Gapat on the premises of the police station.An officer from the ACB said that Gapat was the investigating officer in a criminal case registered at the police station. She had allegedly demanded Rs 8 lakh from one of the accused to help him in the case by submitting a summary report. The accused approached the ACB on Tuesday and lodged a complaint.“We verified the demand on Tuesday. During the verification, we found that the sub-inspector agreed to accept Rs 3 lakh from the complainant. We then laid a trap and caught her while accepting the bribe,” the officer said.He added that a case was being registered against the sub-inspector at the Dighi police station.
