Mumbai: Several students from Dadar’s Kirti College have alleged serious discrepancies in their final-year results, affecting their admissions and employment opportunities. While some students claimed that they were marked absent in the exams they attempted, some others who took their ATKT (allowed to keep term) exams said they were declared failed despite clearing their backlogs. As the college is autonomous, it conducts its own exams. Officials claimed that a recent transition to a new service provider caused a technical glitch, impacting the results of students with backlogs. The final-year results at the college were announced on May 27.While the college claims to have started issuing corrected results to many students, some are still awaited. A student said that she has been visiting the college since last week, but her problem is yet to be resolved. “I was marked absent in a theory paper which I attempted. Many students were declared failed, despite clearing the ATKT exam. It has been nearly three weeks,” said the student. Some students approached the All-India Students’ Federation. Aamir Kazi, AISF Mumbai president, who took up the issue with the college, said, “Educational institutions exist to protect students’ interests, not to push them into uncertainty and distress. Students cannot be made victims of administrative negligence.”Anil Markandeya, principal, Kirti College, which comes under Pune’s Deccan Education Society, said the management recently switched to another agency for its ERP system, which provides end-to-end solutions to all students. “Due to the migration of data, some technical glitch has occurred, and errors are reported in only the results of students with backlogs. The students, who have cleared all the six semesters, without any ATKTs, do not have any problem. But we are manually verifying the results and issuing fresh ones, and we have also put out a notice asking students to approach us with their problems,” said the principal.
