In a freak incident, a factory worker was injured after a bullet allegedly struck him near the neck while he was preparing to sleep on the rooftop of his house on Wednesday night. The bullet reportedly came from nowhere, leaving the man initially believing that he had been hit by a stone.The injured, Kanhaiya Maurya, said he had gone to the rooftop at around 10:30pm after dinner. He had a cot and an air cooler and was about to lie down when he heard a loud sound, similar to a firecracker, and suddenly felt something hit him near his neck.Kanhaiya said he initially thought a stone had fallen on him. He went downstairs, where his family noticed blood and told him that he had suffered a gunshot injury.He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. Later, his family checked the rooftop and found a bullet at the spot.Kanhaiya and his family have alleged that the bullet may have been fired by a youth living in the neighbourhood. The allegation, however, is yet to be independently established, and police are investigating the circumstances of the firing.A complaint has been submitted to Daba police.A police officer said police were investigating the matter. He added that a bullet had been found at the spot and efforts were being made to identify the person who fired the shot.Police sources said CCTV footage from cameras installed in the area was also being examined. They added that police were investigating the trajectory of the bullet, including how it came to hit Kanhaiya near the neck before landing on the rooftop.
