Shimla: Hamirpur sadar police have registered a case against BJP MLA from Hamirpur, Ashish Sharma, for allegedly making objectionable and unsubstantiated remarks against chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the state govt during a rally on Wednesday.The FIR was filed following a complaint by Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) Hamirpur chairperson Ajay Sharma. The complainant alleged that during a BJP protest demonstration at Gandhi Chowk, the MLA leveled unverified corruption allegations concerning private land allegedly belonging to the chief minister’s family, the construction of a bus stand, and the procurement of robotic surgery equipment worth crores of rupees.Hamirpur superintendent of police Balbir Thakur said that an investigation has been launched into the statements made during the rally and the claims cited in the complaint.Reacting to the FIR, BJP state spokesperson Trilok Kapoor accused the Congress-led state govt of political vendetta. He said that instead of answering public questions, the administration was resorting to police pressure, citing previous cases registered against BJP MLAs Sudhir Sharma, Ashish Sharma, and former MLA Rajendra Rana.
