Noida: A dumper driver, Arbaz Khan, accused of recklessly driving a stone-laden vehicle on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, was arrested by police on Friday with the help of local intelligence.According to police, on June 18, the accused was driving the dumper negligently at a high speed when stones and gravel loaded in the vehicle fell onto the expressway. The debris scattered across the road led to tyre punctures in several passing vehicles and caused traffic congestion on the busy corridor.Following complaints and an investigation, police registered an FIR under relevant provisions of the BNS related to rash and negligent driving, endangering public safety, and creating obstruction on a public roadway.Police launched a search operation and found him near an underpass on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, where he was taken into custody. The dumper, bearing a Rajasthan registration plate that was linked to the incident, was also seized.Police officials said the incident could have resulted in a serious road accident and highlighted the dangers posed by overloaded or improperly secured construction material transported on highways. Authorities urged commercial vehicle drivers and transport operators to follow safety norms and ensure that construction materials are properly covered and secured before transit.
