Special Intensive Revision soon in Telangana, voters told to link details with 2002 electoral rolls

Hyderabad: Telangana chief electoral officer C Sudarshan Reddy has said the Election Commission will take up the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, and the schedule will be released soon.He asked voters to complete the pre-SIR linking of their names with the 2002 SIR electoral roll and keep the required details ready. The CEO said the revision was aimed at ensuring that no eligible citizen was left out and no ineligible person remains on the rolls, particularly in view of migration, duplicate enrolments and non-removal of names of deceased voters.BLOs matching present roll with 2002 SIR dataSudarshan Reddy said booth level officers, assistant electoral registration officers and electoral registration officers are currently matching electors in the present roll with either their own names or the names of their relatives in the last SIR held in 2002.Voters could retrieve 2002 SIR details from the CEO Telangana website or ECI voters’ portal by using the “search by elector details” option. Polling station-wise electoral roll PDFs were also available online. Those unable to find their own names in the 2002 roll might search for the details of their parents or grandparents and fill those details in the enumeration form, the CEO said.No documents needed during enumerationThe CEO said no document was required during the enumeration phase. Notices would be issued only to electors whose names cannot be matched or linked with the 2002 SIR roll, asking them to provide supporting documents to prove eligibility.The Election Commission has suggested documents such as govt or PSU identity cards, pre-July 1, 1987, govt or institutional records, birth certificate, passport, educational certificate, permanent residence certificate, forest right certificate, caste certificate, NRC wherever applicable, family register, govt land or house allotment certificate, and Aadhaar as per ECI directions issued on Sept 9, 2025.Sudarshan Reddy urged all electors to meet their polling station BLO or ERO and complete the linking with the 2002 SIR details to avoid inconvenience during the revision period.
