CHENNAI: Following directions from the Election Commission of India, Tamil Nadu chief electoral officer Archana Patnaik has ordered a special drive across all districts to enrol left-out and eligible young or first-time voters under the continuous updation process.The commission clarified that the declaration form attached to Form 6 is applicable only during the SIR phase. For the non-SIR period, the statutory forms prescribed under the Registration of Electors Rules, 960, will remain in effect.Following the ECI’s communication, senior election officials held a review meeting with district collectors and election officers on Thursday to outline the implementation roadmap. District authorities have been instructed to set up dedicated mechanisms to ensure that no eligible voter is left off the electoral rolls.
