Ludhiana: The district administration on Thursday published the draft electoral roll under the special intensive revision (SIR), opening a one-month window for voters across Ludhiana to verify their particulars, report omissions, or request corrections.Voters can access the draft list online through the election commission’s voter services portal by selecting the revision year, “SIR DraftRoll,” Ludhiana district, and their respective Assembly constituency. However, several residents reported confusion while navigating the portal, as locating entries requires identifying the specific “part” corresponding to their local polling station area rather than searching the constituency at large.Resident Amarjit, from Dugri, shared his experience, “My voter ten year old voter card lists Ludhiana West as constituency, and Atam Nagar and number, but when I opened against the number mentioned on the voter card, it opens list of Gobind Nagar. It wasn’t possible to download a lot of lists. I would have to get in touch the with BLO.”To assist voters and address technical queries, the election department will set up physical assistance counters. Election Kanungo Ashwini Kumar said, “The district election department would organise special camps at polling booths across Ludhiana on August 16 to help voters resolve their queries.” He added that voters can approach officials at these camps for clarifications, raise objections, or apply for fresh inclusions.The draft roll publication follows door-to-door verification by booth level officers (BLOs) across Ludhiana, covering approximately 26.8 lakh electors—including 14.1 lakh men, 12.6 lakh women, and 135 third-gender voters. The draft release was shifted to August 13 after the election commission extended door-to-door enumeration in Punjab until August 3.Under the revised schedule, claims and objections will be accepted until September 12 and disposed of by October 8, leading to the publication of the final electoral roll on October 12.
