Sorry for inconvenience due to 22A, will resolve land issues in 2 days: Ponguleti

Hyderabad: Admitting people are being put to inconvenience and are being denied registrations as their properties have figured in the Prohibited Properties List under section 22-A of the Indian Registration Act, Telangana revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has tendered an ‘apology’ on behalf of the govt.He assured the govt will resolve the issues in a couple of days in CURE districts — Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sanga Reddy districts. He announced that about 35,000 to 38,000 land parcels will be freed from the prohibited list category in two days. The minister also announced a toll-free number 18005-9947-88 for the public to bring issues pertaining to the properties under section 22-A to their notice.Ponguleti said the govt will safeguard properties of private owners while protecting govt land, and once issues in the CURE areas are settled, he will personally focus on other districts. He said district collectors have already been asked to resolve pending applications on removal of private patta lands from the prohibited properties list.Thousands of property owners have expressed their concern over inclusion of their properties in the prohibited list, especially in Greater Hyderabad and surrounding districts. With these concerns on agenda, the revenue minister called for a meeting with district collectors of Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy along with principal secretary revenue, and registration and stamps department commissioner at secretariat on Monday, and discussed the issue elaborately.Issues in Jubilee and Banjara Hills“There are over 750 applications pending applications in four districts in CURE areas for removal of their private lands from 22-A. Of them, the highest applications are in Medchal-Malkajgiri (511), followed by 146 in Ranga Reddy, 49 in Hyderabad and 38 in Sangareddy districts. All of them will be resolved in a couple of days,” he said. The minister said there are issues in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills apart from many areas in CURE areas. Of the total pending applications in Medchal district, about 300 to 320 issues pertain to urban land ceiling issues, and the majority claims by private people are genuine. The minister also admitted the mess was due to the mistakes of revenue officials who had sent the prohibited properties list to the sub-registrars without checking and removing the genuine patta lands from the list. Ponguleti said the Telangana high court had directed the state govt to send the revised list to the registration department with 6,000 cases challenging listing of their properties under prohibition, and it would dispose of the cases once it is done. Revenue authorities have sent the lists to the registration department without any proper verification, he said. Uploading of relevant GOs, proceedings, memos removing certain govt lands from the prohibition or regularised lands has also not been done.“All the relevant GOs, proceedings, memos are being uploaded now,” he said. The minister said he has directed the registration department to allot additional slots for people whose registrations were stalled due to the prohibited properties issue, and work for additional hours to clear the pending registrations. He requested people not to panic with these issues and asked them to submit their application at any office — either revenue or registration department — and the govt will resolve them within three to five days.
