Panchkula: Haryana minister Krishan Kumar Bedi inaugurated six Amrit Sarovars developed at a cost of ₹1.6 crore across the district. The launch took place during a district-level ceremony at the Mini Secretariat conference hall, following a state-level event at the Naraingarh grain market where chief minister Nayab Singh Saini virtually inaugurated 325 sarovars across the state, including the six Panchkula locations.Addressing the gathering, Bedi stated that the state govt is working towards rural development, water conservation, and environmental sustainability through the renovation, beautification, and development of village ponds. He noted that the scheme plays a significant role in strengthening rural infrastructure while promoting water conservation and groundwater recharge.The six rejuvenated water bodies are equipped with newly installed benches and lighting facilities to serve as community spaces. In Barwala block, the Basanti Mala johad near Goga Madi in Navagaon village was developed for ₹21.2 lakh. In Pinjore block, work included the Johluwal pond at ₹29.9 lakh, Khedanwali pond at ₹25.6 lakh, Khedanwali Lehi pond at ₹27.4 lakh, and the johad in Thane Ki Ser village at ₹24.3 lakh. In Raipur Rani block, the pond near the public health tubewell in Barona Kalan village was completed at a cost of ₹39.9 lakh.Bedi added that these ponds will serve as valuable assets for the rural community and further strengthen the objectives of sustainable rural development, water conservation, and effective water resource management in Panchkula district as well as across Haryana.
