Chennai: The Greater Chennai Police have registered one more case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act against Gem Granites chairman R. Veeramani.The Special Investigation Team (SIT) registered the fresh case based on a complaint lodged by a mother alleging that her daughter was sexually abused when she was a minor. The child was earlier in the city, but later shifted to another district. This is the sixth case under the POCSO Act against Veeramani. He is also booked in a case of abetment of suicide involving a minor in 2004.Police sources said the investigators will take custody of Veeramani in the second POCSO Act case soon. Meanwhile, police launched a search at Veeramani’s residence on Lloyd’s Road in Royapettah based on specific information.Veeramani, along with a woman and her husband, was arrested on August 28 in the original investigation into allegations of sexual abuse of minor girls. The duo have been accused of facilitating the alleged abuse at a house rented by Veeramani. They were later detained under the Goondas Act. The accused would be formally arrested in all other cases, the sources said.
