Bengaluru/Mysuru: Karnataka has delivered 41.6 lakh of the 43.8 lakh notices generated under the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls over logical discrepancies, and the remaining notices are yet to be sent out as of Friday, according to the chief electoral officer’s (CEO) office.Bengaluru Urban, BBMP South, Central and North entities account for nearly 90% of the 2.1 lakh notices which are yet to be issued. Since hearings must be completed by Oct 12, these notices must reach voters not later than Oct 5 so that they get a week’s time to keep documents in order and prepare defence for re-inclusion of names in the rolls.The notices seek clarification from voters, whose entries showed logical anomalies or could not be mapped to the 2002 electoral roll and enumeration forms, including mismatch in names, age or parent details.The CEO’s office said 28.8 lakh hearings had been completed, accounting for 69.2% of the delivered notices. The remaining 12.8 lakh hearings are to be completed by Oct 12, while Oct 22 is the deadline for disposal of notices, claims and objections.The corrected names will be reflected in the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on Oct 27.Eleven districts — Kolar, Hassan, Chitradurga, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Bagalkot, Ballari, Vijayanagar, Ramanagaram, Chamarajanagar and Davangere — have completed notice delivery. Voters receiving notices have been asked to appear before the AERO or ERO with one of 11 indicative documents, including passport, birth certificate or SSLC marks card, to establish their identity.Seven districts have less than 100 notices pending, with only one in Koppal. Five districts have 100-500 notices pending and four districts have 500-850 notices in the to-be-sent folder.Mysuru deputy commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy said they have a month to complete the process. Names of 250 dead voters and those having multiple voter entries had surfaced in the draft roll in Mysuru. These entries are being removed through Form 7.The district-wise figures show considerable variation in the pace of hearings. The chief minister’s home district Ramanagara has completed 91.91% of hearings after generating and delivering all 19,696 notices.
