GURGAON: Citizens will now get another month to check and challenge entries in the electoral rolls as the Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Haryana till September 30.The revised schedule, announced on Saturday, extends the earlier July 31 deadline.Claims and objections filed during the period will be disposed of by October 28, with the final electoral roll now scheduled to be published on November 6.District election officer and deputy commissioner Uttam Singh said the extension was aimed at ensuring that eligible voters who could not file claims or objections within the earlier timeframe do not miss the opportunity.Officials have urged residents to check their names and other details in the electoral roll and flag any discrepancies during the extended period.Those whose names are missing from the roll can submit Form 6, along with the required documents and declaration, to seek inclusion.Voters can approach their booth-level officer (BLO), electoral registration officer (ERO) or assistant ERO for assistance.Information can also be obtained through the ‘Book a Call’ facility on the ECINET app or voter helpline 1950.
