GURGAON: A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering his live-in partner by assaulting her with a stick, pipe and rolling pin at their rented house in Dharam Colony, police said.The incident took place on Tuesday when police received information that a woman was lying injured inside a rented house in the Palam Vihar area. A police team reached the spot and found the woman seriously injured and covered in blood. She was taken to a hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared her dead.Police said the landlord told them that he heard a commotion in the street and, on coming outside, saw the accused, identified as Akash, assaulting the woman. According to the landlord’s complaint, Akash hit her on the head before fleeing the spot.A case was registered at Palam Vihar police station on the landlord’s complaint. Police subsequently arrested Akash, a native of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh, from Dharam Colony on Tuesday.During interrogation, police found that the deceased was not Akash’s wife, as initially stated in the complaint. The two had allegedly been living together in a live-in relationship since 2020. Akash works as a bus driver in Gurgaon, police said.According to police, the two had an argument over an issue on Tuesday, following which Akash allegedly attacked the woman with a stick, pipe and rolling pin, causing fatal injuries.Police said the three objects allegedly used in the assault were recovered from the spot. The accused was to be produced before a court on Wednesday, while further investigation is underway.
