Hyderabad: Members of the Singareni Retired Employees Association, Hyderabad, submitted a representation to IT minister Sridhar Babu, urging the state govt to remove the ₹8 lakh cap on health insurance coverage and provide retired employees with unconditional access to free medical treatment. The association also urged the govt to provide outpatient treatment facilities for retired employees. “At present, there is a cap of ₹8 lakh on treatment. At a time when healthcare costs are rising exponentially, this amount is insufficient for most treatments. The govt should do away with cap and provide unlimited medical treatment to both the employees and their spouses,” said D Ramchander Rao, president of the association. The members also said that, as agreed in a recent meeting, free inpatient treatment should be provided at Singareni hospitals without insisting on a Coal India agreement. “The additional insurance coverage of ₹2 lakh under CPRMS–NE should also be enhanced and implemented at the earliest,” said A Venu Madhav, general secretary of the association. The association welcomed the govt’s decision to establish Singareni Super Speciality Hospital, saying it would be of immense benefit to the retired workforce.
