GURGAON: Students and young researchers can now get a hands-on opportunity to work with Haryana’s historical records and learn how the state’s documentary heritage is preserved, catalogued and digitised.The Haryana State Archives Department is launching the ‘Dharohar Shastri Internship Programme’, a one-month initiative aimed at familiarising young people with the state’s administrative, historical and cultural archival material.For students of history and humanities, the programme offers an opportunity to go beyond classroom learning and understand how original records are handled and preserved.Participants will also be exposed to archival documentation, conservation and digitisation processes.According to the district administration, applicants can include history diploma holders, undergraduate students from the second year onwards, postgraduates and research scholars.Students interested in archival studies, history, heritage and antiquity, as well as eligible library and information science students and those from other social sciences and humanities, can also apply.DC Uttam Singh urged eligible students and researchers to participate, saying the programme would help develop practical skills while creating greater awareness about Haryana’s heritage.
