Jhunjhunu: Sadar Neemkathana police and the DST have arrested 12 alleged members of an interstate gang accused of stealing about 103km of high-tension electricity wires worth an estimated Rs 5 crore to Rs 6 crore in Sikar district.Sikar SP Praveen Nayak Noonawat said the wires were stolen in Sadar Neemkathana and Dabla police station areas. The gang allegedly targeted wires being installed for Powergrid Limited’s 765kV D/C Sikar-II-Narela transmission line project.Police seized two motorcycles, a pickup, a car and a Thar jeep allegedly used in the thefts. They also recovered two iPhones reportedly bought with the proceeds. Police said the accused admitted during questioning to involvement in dozens of incidents.Those arrested were Dheeraj Bagadiya, Mohit Jakhad, Lokesh Mehraniya, Vijay Kumar Mehraniya, Rahul Yadav, Hanuman Meena alias Abhi, Sachin Kumar Saini, Deepak Meena, Jagdish Bawariya, Himanshu, Monu and Sunil Gurjar. They are residents of Sikar, Jhunjhunun, Khairthal-Tijara and Kotputli-Behror districts.Skipper Limited, Neemkathana, lodged a theft report at Deenimka police station on Aug 9-2026, reporting thefts of wires and other goods from different places on July 11, July 12, Aug 5 and Aug 6.Police traced the suspects using CCTV footage and information from other sources. Efforts are under way to recover the stolen goods and arrest other alleged gang members.
