Shripal Sabnis Emphasises the Need for Patient-Centric Healthcare;

Pune: Healthcare is not merely a process of providing treatment; it is a test of society’s sensitivity. Today, there is a greater need than ever to view the healthcare system by placing the patient at its centre, said eminent litterateur, thinker and former president of the Marathi Literary Conference, Shripal Sabnis. He also lauded the Patients’ Rights Council for spreading the message of religious harmony and mutual respect in society.Dr. Sabnis was speaking at a programme organised to mark the third anniversary of the Grand Prithvi Medical Foundation. The programme was attended by Umesh Chavan, Founder President of the Patients’ Rights Council; Dr. Avinash Bhondwe, former President of the Indian Medical Association, Maharashtra; Chandrashekhar Daithankar, former Inspector General of Police; Dr. Satyendranath Chavan, former Assistant Veterinary Commissioner; Bhanupratap Barge, former Assistant Commissioner of Police; Milind Gaikwad; Janmohammad Pathan; Aparna Marane-Sathe, Pune City President of the Patients’ Rights Council; Ashok Shinde, Executive Director of the Grand Prithvi Medical Foundation; Mukesh Mohite and others.Dr. Shripal Sabnis said, “Through its social initiatives, the Patients’ Rights Council has spread the values of religious harmony and humanity in society. Along with addressing healthcare-related issues, the council is working to bring together diverse sections of society while upholding its social commitment. Dialogue between literature and healthcare can bring about positive social transformation. The Health Literature Conference will, therefore, provide a new direction to intellectual and social movements.”During the programme, the announcement was made about the second Health Literature Conference, scheduled to be held in December. Dr. Avinash Bhondwe was also announced as the president of the conference. Along with his medical practice, Dr. Bhondwe has authored more than 24 books on healthcare and various other subjects.Umesh Chavan said, “While fighting for patients’ rights, we do not limit our efforts to healthcare issues alone. We are also working to ensure that every citizen receives justice and dignity. Our objective is to take healthcare services and awareness about patients’ rights to the most disadvantaged sections of society. In the coming years, the council will work towards expanding social harmony and humanistic values.”Bhanupratap Barge said, “The work of the Patients’ Rights Council establishes a meaningful balance between social awareness and healthcare services. Such initiatives strengthen mutual trust and a spirit of cooperation among different sections of society.”On the occasion, Chandrashekhar Daithankar felicitated the newly elected Board of Directors of the Grand Prithvi Medical Foundation. Ashok Shinde delivered the introductory remarks, while Deepak Mhaske compered the programme and proposed the vote of thanks.
