Shoe thief walks away with 27 pairs from Bengaluru apartment

Bengaluru: Residents of Sri Dhama Apartment complex in NGEF Layout of Sadanandanagar in east Bengaluru were left stunned after a thief stole 27 pairs of branded shoes, worth over Rs 1.3 lakh, in a pre-dawn theft recently.Sujeet Kumar TG, 50, a marketing professional, told police he found seven pairs of his shoes, worth around Rs 23,000, stolen from the shoe rack outside his flat on the morning of June 17.What initially appeared to be an isolated theft soon turned out to be a larger crime affecting multiple residents. Inquiries revealed 11 pairs of shoes, worth Rs 65,000, belonging to another resident, P Balamurugan; five pairs, worth Rs 20,000, owned by Mahesh Kumar Holkar; four pairs valued at Rs 25,000, belonging to Ravindra MT, were also stolen.In total, 27 pairs were reported missing from the apartment complex. A review of CCTV footage showed a miscreant moving around the complex between 4.05am and 4.20am on June 17. He was seen collecting the footwear in a gunny bag before escaping in a car with yellow-board registration. Police suspect the thief took the help of a friend, a cab driver, to escape.
