Share the ride, split the bill: Sector 105 RWA launches carpool initiative

Noida: As fuel prices squeeze household budgets, the Sector 105 residents’ welfare association has urged residents to carpool to Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Greater Noida. A dedicated WhatsApp group will be floated to facilitate direct coordination, where residents can share travel routes, timings and contact details.RWA president Deepak Sharma said it is a voluntary, not for profit initiative. “If the number of cars leaving Sector 105 daily could be reduced from approximately 100 to just 35-50, it would lead to significant decreases in both traffic congestion and pollution levels. Also, it will foster a sense of community and help tackle both the financial burden of rising fuel prices and help the environment,” said Sharma. The residents are receiving the campaign with great enthusiasm. A resident also demanded an e-rickshaw shuttle service to Botanical Garden metro station — similar to arrangements in neighbouring sectors — with trips every two hours.Ever since the US-Iran war had begun, fuel prices have been hiked for four times, with the latest increase announced last month. Petrol in Delhi-NCR costs Rs 102.12 per litre and and diesel Rs 95.20 litre.
