Kolkata: Chief minister Suvendu Adhikari will now be given Z+ security when he travels outside Bengal. Prior to the upgrade by the ministry of home affairs, Adhikari was provided with Z-category central security outside Bengal, while in the state he received Z+ cover.The decision follows the latest evaluation of Adhikari’s security requirements.Out-of-state visits previously required prior administrative coordination between Bengal police and local authorities to arrange the necessary protective protocol. Under the upgraded cover, central agencies will handle Adhikari’s security directly.Under Z+ protocol, around 22 security personnel will protect the CM, including elite commandos alongside armed cops. Adhikari will also receive at least one bulletproof vehicle along with a pilot and escort car during his travels outside Bengal.
