Kolkata: West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) on Monday sent a proposal to the school education department proposing a new schedule for the 2027 Madhyamik examination, scheduling tests from March 2 instead of Feb 15, due to the second phase of the census drive. This move follows a communication from the registrar general and census commissioner of India stating that the second phase of field enumeration will begin in Jan 2027 and conclude by March, during which, most teachers from state-run schools will be assigned census duty. The board will formally declare the rescheduled dates after receiving approval from the school education department.
