Rajkot: A day after a man’s body was found partially eaten by lions in Amreli district, another suspected lion attack surfaced in neighbouring Bhavnagar on Wednesday, where a 34-year-old man’s mutilated body was recovered from bushes near a village, triggering fresh concerns over rising human-lion encounters in the region.Forest officials on Wednesday recovered a mutilated body near Gujarda village in the Gadhda area of Mahuva taluka. The deceased was identified as Nagji Gujariya (34). The body was discovered around 10.30am, with preliminary indications suggesting it may have been dragged into nearby bushes and partially consumed.According to local sources, Gujariya is believed to have been attacked while walking at night. While the circumstances point towards a possible lion attack, forest officials said it is too early to draw definitive conclusions.“We have recovered parts of the body, and it is difficult at this stage to ascertain whether this was an act of a wild animal,” said Chirag Amin, deputy conservator of forests, Shetrunjee division. “We have initiated an investigation treating it as a suspected wild animal attack. Circumstantial evidence is being collected, and we will wait for the post-mortem report before arriving at any conclusion.”Police have also joined the investigation and are working alongside forest officials to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
