MAU: A school bus carrying around 25-30 children overturned into a canal in the Ranipur area of Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district, injuring several children.Mau ASP Anup Kumar said villagers reached the spot after the accident and helped rescue the children.Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, “The children are injured, and they are being treated.”Villagers also broke the bus windows to pull the children out, the officer said.Police said reports suggest that 25-30 children were injured in the accident. The exact number of injured children is yet to be confirmed.Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident.Police will check whether the bus had the required seating capacity and whether the number of children onboard exceeded the permitted limit.They will also examine the condition of the bus and investigate whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.“Necessary legal action will be taken,” Kumar said.(With agency inputs)
