Pune: The second leg of Run for Unity Marathon will be held in the city on Nov 1.MP Muralidhar Mohol on Saturday said over 40,000 people are expected to participate in the run in various categories, while declaring the details of the event. “Last year around 25,000 people had registered for the event; however, this year the registration has already reached 26,000 and is likely to cross the 40,000 mark. Some international runners and athletes are also participating in the event being held to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”The participation is open for the beginner run, 3km, 5km, 10km, 10-mile and half marathon. The runs in all categories will begin from Alka Talkies chowk in phases and will end at FC campus. This year the event will spread a message of “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Vikasit Bharat”.Cash prizes worth Rs10 lakh will be distributed to the winners from various categories. The organisers have approached Maha Metro to make adequate arrangements for the travel of participants on the event day.
