Bengaluru: A 29-year-old four-wheeler AC mechanic has been arrested for allegedly killing a 45-year-old cook near Laggere following a trivial argument over public urination.The accused, Mohammed Yunus, is a resident of Kurubarahalli, while the deceased, Kumar (45), lived in Mahalakshmi Layout.On the night of July 28, Kumar and his relatives, Nagendra and Narasimhamurthy, had been drinking at a bar. After dropping Nagendra home, Narasimhamurthy returned to pick up Kumar.While walking through Kempegowda Layout, Kumar stopped to urinate by the roadside. Yunus, who witnessed the act, confronted him, leading to an argument. During the altercation, Yunus allegedly assaulted Kumar.When Narasimhamurthy arrived, he intervened and asked Kumar to get on the bike. Police said Yunus assaulted Kumar again and pulled him by the shirt collar, causing him to fall onto the road and suffer a fatal head injury.Kumar was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he died. Mahalakshmipuram police registered a murder case, examined CCTV footage from the area, and arrested Yunus Sunday.During interrogation, Yunus allegedly confessed to the assault. He told police he worked as a mechanic at the garage where Kumar had urinated and confronted him because the area often developed a foul smell. He claimed he assaulted Kumar after being abused but had no intention of killing him.
