Rajkot: A rickshaw driver was allegedly attacked by a pet German shepherd dog and beaten with a chain in the Mavdi Plot area of the city on Tuesday, police said. A video of the offence went viral on social mediaAccording to the complaint, Kishan Mewada (34), a resident of Amarnagar, he was sitting in his rickshaw near his home around 7pm when Deep Jadeja, who lives in the same street, arrived with the dog.The two had previously argued over the accusations against each other in a police complaint related to some personal issues. Jadeja allegedly abused Mewada and hit him with the dog’s chain before letting the animal loose on him and making it bite him.Mewada suffered injuries to both hands and his left leg. He also suffered injuries to his forehead and near his eye after being hit with the chain.He ran into his house to escape. Jadeja also allegedly abused Mewada’s wife. Local residents gathered at the spot, after which Mewada’s family called the police and emergency services. He was later taken by ambulance to Rajkot Civil Hospital.Based on the complaint, police registered a case for causing grievous hurt and intentional insult to provoke breach of peace.
