For over two decades, Nitu Joshi was known in the entertainment industry for her work across films and television. Today, however, the producer-turned-social worker is drawing attention for a different reason — her growing grassroots initiatives in tribal and rural regions of the country.Recognizing her outstanding contribution to environmental conservation, plantation drives and rural social development, Joshi was honoured with the prestigious Rashtriya Harit Gaurav Puraskar at an event held in Jaipur. The award ceremony was organized by Kalpataru Sanstha under the leadership of Vishnu Lamba. The award was presented to her by Jaipur Collector Sandesh Naik, in the presence of Padma Shri Jagdish Parekh and renowned environmentalist Padma Shri Sundaram Verma. Reflecting on her journey, Joshi says, “God has given me an opportunity to serve. The values given by my parents, the support of my husband and the encouragement of my son have been my biggest strengths. Whatever I have achieved has been possible because of people who trusted and supported me. If society continues to support these efforts, I want to do even more meaningful work in the years ahead.”Long before entering social work full-time, Nitu Joshi built a substantial career in the entertainment industry. She has more than 20 years of experience in film, television and media production and has been associated with several notable projects. She served as Executive Producer of the Sanjay Dutt-starrer ‘Vaastav’ and produced ‘Yaksh’ featuring Nitish Bharadwaj. After Two Decades in entertainment, her ngo MIAM Charitable Trust is transforming lives through education, environment and women’s empowerment. Joshi is also actively involved in animal welfare programmes, particularly the care and rehabilitation of stray dogs and cats, while the trust continues to support orphaned children, rural communities and environmental awareness campaigns across Maharashtra.
