LUCKNOW: Thousands of candidates returning after appearing in the Uttar Pradesh police constable recruitment examination triggered heavy rush on trains on Tuesday as well, with several reserved coach passengers alleging severe inconvenience due to unauthorized occupancy of seats, aisles and coach entry points. The complaints surfaced even as railway zones, including Northern Railway and North Central Railway, said they had operated special unreserved trains and made crowd-management arrangements to handle the examination-related rush at major stations such as Lucknow, Kanpur and Prayagraj.Passengers, however, posted on social media that the rush spilled into reserved compartments. In train number 12179, passengers travelling in coach C2 alleged that berths 28 and 29 were surrounded by unauthorized occupants. They claimed that complaints were made through 139, but no effective action was taken by ticket-checking staff.Similar complaints were raised from the Purushottam Superfast Express, train number 12801. Passengers alleged that AC 3-tier coach B5 and 2AC coaches were crowded with ticketless travellers occupying seats and aisles, causing inconvenience and raising safety concerns for genuine ticket holders. Some passengers also alleged that TTEs and onboard staff failed to intervene. In Bundelkhand Express, train number 11108, passengers claimed that hundreds of people entered AC coaches, occupied reserved seats and filled galleries. According to complainants, objections led to verbal abuse, while repeated calls to railway helplines did not bring timely relief.A passenger on Gomti Express, train number 12420, also posted videos and photographs alleging that unauthorized passengers entered reserved coach D12 from the originating station. The passenger claimed that no ticket-checking staff visited the coach for a considerable part of the journey. The overcrowding allegedly led to vomiting inside the coach and missing luggage, while some RailMadad complaints were reportedly closed without resolution.Northern Railway said it ran special trains from Lucknow to Varanasi, Prayagraj Sangam and Kanpur Central, and operated 10 special trains across its network for exam-related travel. North Central Railway’s Prayagraj Division said it ran exam specials from Kanpur Central and Etawah towards Lucknow and Jhansi, besides rescheduling and extending services.
