Panaji: The state cabinet on Thursday approved the transfer of reservations and recruitment of candidates belonging to the economically weaker section (EWS) from the directorate of social welfare to department of personnel.The ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions, department of personnel and training has periodically issued instructions on EWS reservations, including eligibility criteria and the percentage of reservation in recruitment.The social welfare department had adopted these instructions and was functioning as the administrative department for EWS reservation matters.The cabinet said that since EWS instructions primarily concern recruitment reservations, and the department of personnel has supervisory jurisdiction over recruitment-related matters across state departments, EWS reservation and recruitment will now fall under the department of personnel.The department of personnel will be authorised to issue related circulars, orders, office memoranda, and notifications.
