Umesh K Parida Navi Mumbai: Ten members of two teams rescued Pune-based real estate broker Sandesh Hadvale (47), who accidentally slipped 200ft down a valley in the Tamhini ghat stretch under Mangaon taluka, Raigad, around 2am on Friday.Hadvale got down from his car to attend nature’s call and slipped into the valley due to darkness. Hadvale sustained massive fractures in his right leg besides other injuries. Ten members of two rescue teams, including Sahyadri Vanyajeev Rakshanarth Samajik Sanstha, Kolad, led by Sagar Dahimbekar, conducted a risky operation to pull him out. The victim and his driver were returning to Pune from Chiplun, Ratnagiri. The local police suspect him to have been under the influence of alcohol. He was rushed to a hospital in Pune in his car and undergoing treatment. A resident of Mulshi, Hadvale had allegedly crossed the gap between the roadside safety walls leading to his loss of balance. After getting an alert from his driver, the Mangaon police reached the spot at 3am and he was rescued by 5.30am. Constable Yuvraj Dahiphale said, “The adventure sports rope brought by the rescue team from Vira Patnus team fell short of reaching the victim. Thereafter, the other team was pressed into rescue operation. Both the rescue teams, joined by police, pulled him out of the valley. An ambulance was stationed on the spot but he preferred to travel on his own car referring to his pre-existing ligament issues.” Dahimbekar said, “The operation conducted under darkness was a tough one.”
