Noida: Film City and Botanical Garden bus stand stretches along with roads in sectors 15, 16, 37, 51, 52 and 7x, which developed multiple potholes and rough patches following the rains, are set to be resurfaced. Noida Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh on Wednesday directed officials of all 10 work circles to fill up potholes and repave by Oct 20 all damaged roads across the city.TOI recently reported that the Sector 71 underpass, a key Greater Noida West connector, was riddled with potholes. Earlier, it had highlighted how the slip roads leading to the Bhangel Elevated Road, and the DSC Road that runs below it, are dotted with craters, with gravel loosening in patches. The road outside the Aqua Line’s sector 51 and 52 metro stations has also developed huge craters.“We have received information that roads have been damaged at several places due to the recent rainfall. Action will be taken against officials of the respective work circles if repairs are not completed within the deadline,” Karunesh said.During a review meeting, the CEO also sacked four contract staffers — two junior engineers and two supervisors — for dereliction of duty after inspection reports by additional CEOs Vandana Tripathi, Pushp Raj Singh and OSD Kranti Shekhar highlighted illegal construction in Barolla village and sectors 138 and 140. The horticulture supervisor of Sector 19’s B Block was also removed after dry leaves and green waste were found dumped in a park. The contractor was fined Rs 5 lakh, and notices were issued to the horticulture inspector and assistant director.Another contractor was fined Rs 5 lakh after the inspection team found garbage dumped along the central verge of a road in Nithari village. In addition, door-to-door garbage collection agency AG Enviro Infra Projects was fined Rs 25 lakh for failing to collect garbage on time from different sectors.The CEO also directed officials to ensure that all public toilets across Noida are cleaned and operational by Oct 15. Public toilets in several parts of the city had remained shut for months after an earlier contract with a private agency expired. Noida Authority has now hired another agency to manage and maintain 256 such facilities.
