Shimla: Light to moderate rainfall continued across large parts of Himachal Pradesh, with isolated areas receiving heavy showers, even as the weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in the coming days.According to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, light to moderate rain is likely across most parts of Himachal on July 9, with isolated heavy to very heavy spells in Chamba, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur.On July 10, heavy rain is expected in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur, and on July 11, heavy rain is likely in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur, stated the weather department. On July 12, moderate to heavy rain is likely at isolated places in Una, Hamirpur, Mandi and Shimla, while the remaining districts are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall.The weather office has cautioned that the persistent rainfall could trigger localised landslides and mudslides in vulnerable areas, waterlogging in low-lying regions, slippery roads, reduced visibility and disruption of traffic and essential services. People have been advised to avoid vulnerable slopes, overflowing streams and waterlogged areas during heavy spells.Between July 1 and July 8, Himachal received 65.3 mm of rainfall against the normal 51.5 mm, registering an overall increase of 27%.MSID:: 132264660 413 |
