Pune: The directorate of education has directed all higher secondary schools and junior colleges across Maharashtra to commence first year junior college (FYJC) classes on July 15, even as the admission process continues through special rounds.The decision follows the completion of four centralised admission process (CAP) rounds, with more than 10 lakh students having confirmed their admissions so far. Due to heavy rainfall in several parts of the state, officials have extended the deadline for the first special admission round to July 8. Currently, 324,102 students have secured seats through this initial special round.While over 75% of registered applicants have finalised their admissions, nearly 399,442 students are still awaiting placement. Officials noted that these students will have further opportunities in the upcoming special rounds.The directorate also announced that the second special admission round will be conducted exclusively for girls. This round begins on July 10, just ahead of the start of classes. Female applicants can register, correct part I of their application forms, and submit college preferences on July 10 and 11. The seat allotment list will be published at 10 am on July 13, and students must confirm their admissions by 6 pm on July 14.The schedule for subsequent admission rounds will be released following the completion of the girls’ special round.
