Pune: The intensity of rainfall reduced across much of Maharashtra on Wednesday after the recent spell of widespread triple-digit rainfall, but the Western Ghats continued to receive heavy showers at several locations.Among the highest rainfall recorded in the 24 hours ending Thursday morning was Bhira with 311mm, followed by Tamhini (250mm), Shirgaon (230mm), Dongerwadi (202mm), Davdi (199mm), Ambone (190mm), Koyna (Navja) [160mm], Khand (126mm), Pophali (122mm), Lonavla Office (119mm) and Lonavala (114mm), among others.The season’s cumulative rainfall remained exceptionally high in the ghat regions. Bhira has recorded 4,310mm og precipitation so far, followed by Tamhini (3,189mm), Davdi (2,901mm), Dongerwadi (2,822mm), Lonavla Office (2,658 mm), Shirgaon (2,651 mm) and Ambone (2,342 mm).Rain intensity is likely to reduce further from Friday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast fairly widespread to widespread rainfall over Konkan and Goa from Thursday to July 15.In contrast, Gujarat region, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to witness isolated to scattered rainfall during the same period. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Madhya Maharashtra on Friday.
